With the Smart Wood collection, Kartell and Philippe Starck take on a new challenge: working wood with the same fluidity as composite materials to give it a unique appearance, rich in finesse and curves. The immense Ray and Charles Eames were the first to experiment with molding plywood into complex shapes. The Earl of Wood desk combines a steel wire base with a thin, delicately curved bent wood top. The molded wood adopts incredible sinuous lines, a pleasure to look at and to caress.
