The Egg Chair, designed by Arne Jacobsen, was created for the reception areas and lobby of the Hotel Royal in Copenhagen and has become an icon of modern design. Its sculptural form, which contrasts sharply with the linear surfaces of the surrounding architecture, is the result of a technique that was innovative for its time: an inner shell of hard foam covered with upholstery. Jacobsen personally modelled the perfect shape in his garage, working like a sculptor. Equipped with a star-shaped base in satin-polished aluminium, this version is upholstered in a vibrant red fabric. Elegant and versatile, it is ideal for living rooms, waiting areas or sophisticated domestic environments.
