Description
Optunia, created by designer Claesson Koivisto Rune, is a table lamp with a stem. Its functionality lies in the possibility of rotating the two discs that make up the head by approximately 360 degrees, giving rise to an extraordinary number of light combinations. The lower disk rotates around one axis and at the same time the upper disk rotates around a second axis, perpendicular to the first. This double movement allows Optunia to include both the characteristics of a lamp with direct light emission and of a lamp with indirect light emission, which uses the wall or ceiling to produce a soft light. Adding to its functionality is a design that recalls a shape present in nature: the two discs recall the blades of the Opuntia ficus-indica (prickly pear), whose name the lamp also bears.
