Lunar Sofa Bed by James Irvine

In 1997, B&B Italia launched the Ciovassino project, inviting young designers to create innovative but production-ready furniture. James Irvine participated with a sofa bed, inspired by his bohemian years in Milan. The friendly and almost Disney-like design features linear and rounded volumes, with disc-shaped feet that recall the Apollo 11 LEM module. The structure allows for a simple and safe transition between the functions of sofa and bed: the seat slides forward and the backrest folds down, creating a support surface for two people. Despite its pop character, the Lunar remained in production for several years, also appreciated by a sophisticated public. The sofa is in excellent condition, with only two small marks on the fabric due to the dust accumulated when the bed was closed.
