Hereke rectangular rug in wool and cotton

In the mid-19th century the court of Istanbul founded the first imperial factory in Herekè to create masterpieces to be donated to foreign diplomats with great use of locally made silk. Floral decorations typical of the Ottoman tradition. This hand-knotted rug with medium knot density was made in the 1980s. Two-step weave in cotton and fleece in wool.

This rug is hand knotted and therefore there may be slight differences in shape, thickness and pattern. This is particularly noticeable in rural and nomadic carpets. The slight imperfections of these hand-made artifacts increase their value and attest to the craftsmanship of the workmanship. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Periodic professional cleaning is recommended.
