Description
The Tizio table lamp by Artemide, designed by Richard Sapper in 80s, is an icon of Italian design. Although never used, it shows slight signs of aging. Exhibited in world-famous museums such as the MoMA and the Victoria and Albert Museum, Tizio won the Compasso d'Oro in 1979. Despite being conceived in the 70s, it is still a symbol of quality, functionality and elegance of Made in Italy. The project, born from the collaboration between Sapper and Ernesto Gismondi, aimed to create a drawing lamp with a large range of movement and a minimal footprint. Made of metal with a glass fiber reinforced nylon coating, Tizio has parallel arms that allow various stable positions thanks to steel counterweights. It uses a 12 volt halogen lamp powered through metal arms.
